The entire process can be done as an in-office procedure. The PRP is made from the patient’s own blood. Blood is taken in a vial from an arm, just like it is taken in any blood test. The PRP is a result of running the blood through a centrifuge using a special method and can be completed in under ten minutes at the time of the procedure.
The centrifuge results in separation of the red blood cells from the concentrated platelet-rich plasma, rich in growth factors and nutrients. Once the PRP injection is ready, the physician applies a local numbing cream to the vagina. PRP is then injected into both the upper vagina and clitoris (collectively termed as the O-spot) using a very thin needle.
There is little or no pain felt by the patient because of the numbing cream applied previously. Afterward, the woman can carry on with the rest of her day as usual.
The benefits from the O-Shot® can begin to show almost immediately as the growth factors set to repair and rejuvenate vaginal tissue, including the pubo-urethral ligament, further benefits becoming apparent with the passage of time including reduction of SUI symptoms.
Over 90% of women who go under this therapy report complete cure from stress incontinence and the remainder still report significant improvements in the SUI symptoms.
